We had a lengthy thread recently... do you play with an American accent?
Well this man started me on all things country and I reckon I have most of the vinyl he produced.
Still wish I could play like him! ...........

I have watched that clip a number of times over the last year, as I love Chet's playing. I bought a NOS Country Gent as a result this year. I already had a solid body nylon string Chet Atkins with a classical neck. I used to spend hours discussing Chet back in the 70's with John Edmed, who owned Sho~Bud Guitars, London. John had Chet's style absolutely nailed note perfect. I asked him how he got so good, and he said that when he was a teenager all of his mates were out chasing girls and having a good time. John spent all of his spare time on guitar, practising Chet's music.
My favourite Chet piece is below, which I nicked the chords and transferred to pedal steel. Chet was a genius, loved by all who met him. My favourite CA album is Superpickers, with Weldon Myrick, Charley McCoy, Bobby Thompson and many others. Brilliant.

Great stuff Bob. Chet's timing and articulation, even through blazing triplet runs, are just impeccable, and he makes everything sound so easy on the ear. God bless him.
That's such a great version of When You Wish Upon A Star, Ken. The deep musicality he pulls out is mind blowing.
One of my favourites is this, casual but cookin', jam with Dolly. Always puts a smile on my face.

This is great stuff. I've heard Chet Atkins playing but never really listened to him. Reckon I'll be doing a bit more listening

Good to see the great Doyle Dykes on the first video. THE most underrated guitar player.
His YouTube stuff doesn't do him justice. For me, he tops Tommy Emmanuel.
It's a bit like Ken Dodd, - you've got to see him live once in your lifetime.
