Wow! I love hearing different interpretations of a tune, and this took it to the max.

27 steels!! (I think), 3 laps, 2 dobros and 1 console, alcohol and a corral of mares! I've imagined heaven to be like this.

I recognise Larry Behm and my friend Lynn Stafford among the players. The array of Emmons push pulls as this bash is astonishing. I reckon that many of them have passed through the expert hands of Oregon's Emmons specialist - Mr Stafford. I reckon I could grow a beard in the time that it took to get to the end of that round robin. :lol:

It's certainly wonderful to see a get together of this magnitude.

Were all those Emmons push pulls built on a Friday afternoon, or is the recording device not picking up the fabled 'push-pull' tone. Loads of players had a lot of junk stuck on the end of their steel, but there didn't seem to be any improvement in the tone, it was still 'much of a muchness'

Maybe it's my computer speakers

The adage 'tone is in the hands' is very true. Unfortunately not many of those featured in this round robin played with any real purpose or conviction. (Just saying). Richard is right - the push pulls don't stand out above any of the other makes at all.

Also, the YT recordings are at the mercy of the quality of the mike on the camcorders in most cases, and these small condenser jobs that are tacked onto the top of the cameras don't record the full tonal spectrum. I am lucky to have my computer connected to Altec Lansing stereo speakers with a 100w subwoofer. The sound is pretty big, but many of us have small multimedia speakers hooked up to their computers. They are never going to reproduce anything like the original recording tonal range.
