2 acapella numbers - which steel guitar?

Postby Ken Byng » Mon May 11, 2015 2:56 pm

Here are a couple of numbers that I played at the Irish Steel Festival (unaccompanied) during my set last October. I have just recorded them while I have some down time in my studio. Please forgive the slight distortion in a couple of places (It's live and one take folks!). Can anyone guess which of my guitars I used and through which amp? :D

Lovely work Ken! This will be interesting.. please don't reply too soon ....... let the guessing commence!
I''ll kick off with .. The Infinity through the Webb, sounds like a Buck Reid lick there at the end! 'NYCE' :guitar:

Very sweet indeed, right up to that last fantastic resolution. I'll posit a very uninformed guess at a Sho-Pro into a Peavey. (I haven't got a clue)

Keep 'em coming guys, and see who has the best ears.

I think that decent multi media speakers or headphones would obviously help. 8-)

The piece of paper I pulled out of my hat reckons Sho Pro --> Webb 8-)

Well, I think it's time to disclose.

The steel was my Infinity, and I used my Webb amp. So Mr Adams was absolutely spot on! I miked the amp using an AKG condenser mike. I think the Infinity sounds quite Emmons-like, so I 'fattened' up the EQ on the Webb to get the tone I like. :D
