First Aid Kit - Emmylou (Intro cover)

Postby mandosteve » Mon Apr 06, 2015 5:54 pm

Just tried to work out the gist of Mike Mogis' intro on the First Aid Kit song 'Emmylou' and thought I'd post it on here to get a bit of constructive feedback. I've only had my steel just under a month so don't be too mean (John Davis will testify how little I could play a month ago)!

I need to work on the vibrato and volume pedal more. Trying to get a good practice session in every day.

Stephen

My version (no backing track sadly, as I said - I just worked it out myself):

10 out of 10 for effort Stephen but to start with why not try something a little easier ? Everyone I know that just got a steel guitar goes and jumps right in at the deep end ..... :o I guess I was the same ....but that's a hard row to hoe... :)

I guess it was a first thorough attempt at breaking down what I hear on pedal steel, rather than using a tab or something (of course I happily use tab when it's available and accurate!).

Don't worry I've been working through my Mel Bay 'Deluxe Pedal Steel Guitar Method' from the beginning too. I'm always all ears for something easier to learn!

Hey there, this is great.
I was going to have a look at learning this over the next few weeks. Has it been tabbed out? Trying to make it easier for myself... any help appreciated.
