Playing Steel

Postby slimbo » Fri Apr 26, 2013 2:29 pm

Just got two gigs in from a band I used to play with a couple of years ago but now only do a couple of gigs a year.
Is it just me, or do some of you guys feel the same, I like to do the odd instrumental, makes me feel I cant still put it out, but the biggest buzz is when I back someone up, so I think I'm more of a sidesman than an instrumentalist.
We can all learn song's we like, and show them off, but putting some nice stuff in behind a vocalist requires a little more thought, and makes the old brain tick, and I get a good feeling if it comes out right, nothing like the singer looking over after a rift and giving you a wink to say there's a clever boy, how do you guy's feel about your playing.
Now I have to go learn all them song's again, still, need to do something with my time.
