Written by Queen Liliʻuokalani, "Aloha ʻOe" (Farewell to Thee) is Liliʻuokalani's most famous song and a common cultural Leitmotif for Hawaii. The song was inspired by a horseback trip she took in 1877 to the windward side of Oʻahu. After visiting the Boyd ranch in Maunawili, Liliʻuokalani witnessed a farewell embrace between Colonel James Harbottle Boyd and one of the young ranch ladies.

BUT, I don't think she envisaged a semi disco arrangement like this:-

I just noticed the bit about a horseback ride to the windward side of Oʻahu, the mind boggles..as to the odour on the return journey..
BTW the steel on this is my Fender 1000, and the 'Choir' Is "EastWest Symphonic Choirs" played via midi guitar and votox

Not my favorite version, it's an awful waste of a beautiful tune. Just my opinion.

As for it being a waste, tell that to the patrons at the Mahiki who dance to it.. Introducing that melody to the younger generation who may never have heard it, and also possibly entertaining in 'reciprocation', the Royalty who so graciously entertained Queen Liliʻuokalani when she was just a Princes and being educated over here..

Basil, My opinion on this version of the tune, is in no way intended to insult your standing as a player, I think I must have had all your LP recordings and loved every one, this just doesn't float my boat, and as this is a forum I am entitled to my opinion, as you are also.
