...Something A Wee Bit Different...

This is a piece I improvised and developed, not so much SlowHand as ChilledHand. Difficult to specify a genre, I have settled on Embellished Improvisation™©.

I'm using a Pedal Steel patch I created for my Line 6 HX Stomp XL which also uses a Strymon Blue Sky reverb linked in on a effects loop in the Stomp. I subsequently developed a patch which substitutes a Helix reverb for the Strymon Blue Sky which will work with any Helix based hardware or the Helix Native plugin, it's downloadable from here should anyone want to try it,

It's hard for me ATM to produce my own videos as I would usually have done in the past, so I found video graphic content created by a guy who goes under the name Monk Vadim. He offers his splendid creations on an open license where voluntary donations can be made and asks only that he is credited for his work. Cheers Gary, appreciate. Yeah, it's been a long layoff, it's so good to be playing again even if I can only manage short bursts at any one session. Still these short bursts all add up. I've also been left with peripheral neuropathy in my hands and feet, which is quite restricting, but it’s gradually getting better, so fingers crossed!

The blurb, basically I would like to get out playing again and the doc has strongly advised me that lifting heavy things is a no no. So I've been working on putting together a setup that is easier to carry. I bought a Line 6 HX Stomp XL floor box https://uk.line6.com/hx-stomp-xl/ which has everything I'll ever need pedal wise, it also has some really good, realistic amp and speaker models. The patch I have linked to is one I put together with an Ambient flavour. I've also been building a very simple, as light as possible, single 12" speaker cab with a built in 75W mosfet amp. The idea is to have a cabinet that as far as possible produces a non-coloured sound, with all the tone/effects work being done using the HX Stomp XL. I can then go out and only have to carry a smaller cab, the Stomp and my Steel.

Line 6 has a site where users can upload their patches to so others can download them. There are some great user patches there, mainly for guitar but they can be adapted for other instruments such as steel.

Many thanks Roy, I enjoyed playing it, though I was glad when I finally finished it. I don't know about anyone else but I have difficulty knowing when to stop tweaking. I have developed a thing where if I get to the stage that I'm wondering whether 3 ride cymbal hits would be better than 2 then it's time to stop and the tune is finished
