I hadn't realised that the AKG C414 mic that's been knocking around the house is getting on for a grand's worth!! So I decided to give it a go. These short tracks (yes, there will be more!!) are experiments using different settings etc. So far I quite like the sound of it, but need to keep tweaking it. Here's a little country improv for starters.

That mic's a great all rounder, Gary, should capture anything you throw at it, in glorious hi-fidelity.
On this meander, through yon 'country' field, it sounds like you're using a tad more delay than usual(?) or, perhaps the gimlet eye of that mic is more revealing(?).
Nice licks.

Nice sound Gary. Very Country sounding. Thats probably my favourite all round mic, very faithful. A trick I often used is to switch to Omni and put a pillow behind it to cut back on rear pickup. An omni mic doesn’t have the proximity effect which boosts bass the closer you go so it was great to get an up close sound without boomyness.
Cheers
