I started on a Stage One and found it to be a wonderful guitar and great value for money. As the clip shows, it is not a student guitar despite its relatively low price. I ordered mine straight from Doug Earnest, who is a pleasure to do business with, and had to wait a few months for it to be delivered, but it was worth the wait. I 'upgraded' to a ZumSteel Encore with split tunings, more knee levers, and a Franklin pedal, and sold my Stage One to a friend. I love the Encore even though it looks quite basic. It is light, the pedals and levers are smooth, and it stays in tune. If only I could do the same!

That’s my good friend Leo Grassl. He’s a Dekley man but he sounds terrific on any E9 pedal steel. He and Joshua came over last month for Red Rooster festival and my band supported them at the Lexington on Pentonville Road. Classic honky tonk all the way!
