I have a DVD of this night somewhere. It is great viewing and in colour too. Tommy comes out with some incredible things. He was very restrained on this evening, which was recorded at Bell Cove in Hendersonville, north of Nashville where Tommy lives.

Sadly Rick Vanaugh (drummer) died not long after this evening was recorded. Rick was the original drummer with the Time Jumpers. He wasn't that old and it was a tragic loss to the Nashville music scene. The bass player on this clip (Dennis Crouch) was also a Time Jumper, I had the opportunity to chat with both guys at the Station Inn a few times, and I found them to be very affable and friendly.

I've just finished watching this and thanks to Conor Smith for the heads up. It really is fantastic, E9 Gold. The set list might be all the usual suspects, but hearing both their takes on them is so revealing. I thought I'd heard all there was to hear from Cold, Cold Heart!
One thing though, could anyone chip in and tell me what are the makes of the steels?

Lloyd was using one of Jimmy Crawford's JCH guitars, and Tommy was using a Derby steel. Danny the recording was called An Evening Of E9th. Probably recorded over 15 years ago. It was sold on VHS tape, but I transferred my copy to DVD.

Both of the guys have exquisite touch and tone, but I have to say that Tommy's rig of the Derby through his Webb is just tonally immaculate. (I am probably a bit biased!)

That was so pleasurable listening to these two guys play. I have such admiration for them, their style and tone, faultless and so much feeling......what an evening that was.

Well spotted Danny...superb! ...and Tommy White, such a modest but truly masterful player...his invention is boundless, that's what makes him truly great in my eyes, not just his technique which, of course, 'ain't too shabby (Ha!) especially his use of knee levers...wow!.

And Lloyd, well he's just Lloyd...unmistakeable.

Tommy is also a very fine 6 string guitarist. He can play anything.

If you look carefully, you will see that Tommy uses RKL a lot, which lowers his B's to Bb. He also uses his C pedal a great deal.
