Excellent job by Dave. For those of you that don't know, Dave doesn't use a volume pedal, but instead controls a volume pot with one of his knee levers. Dave built his guitar himself, and that's probably Mk 5 I think. One of his guitars was nicked out of his car back in the 70's, and he never saw it again! I suffered the same fate as Dave not long after his loss, but luckily I got all of my gear back through a piece of luck.

Dave doesn't copy other established USA players like many do, he is his own man when it comes to style. He left hand is exemplary. I'm proud to say that he comes from the Southampton area originally, and at one stage we had 10 or so steel players in town including the wonderful Tommy Bannister.

Actually Willie, I have always felt that the situation with Southampton steel players is replicated up in Glasgow. If I lived in close proximity to Glasgow, I would be at every Gartcosh meeting without fail. It’s such a wonderful thing that you have going on up there.

My old man continues to tell me all the stories over a pint.
Back in the day it was common to see multiple steel players on the same bill for festivals and country gigs. He has fond memories.

Nowadays I'm lucky to bump into 1 player at a gig.
