Nightly Special

Hi All (well, the those who are listening)...sorry to overload you, but here's a close-up for those who have requested it (why?) This is typical of what I play every night after a well-deserved glass of rouge. Good to capture something approximating what I do of an early evening. Obviously, I couldn't manage this later in the evening...extra glass (es) of vino and all!

Ah, the secret's in the lubrication!
I really enjoyed that Gary, especially when you got into the rhythmic slapping, never seen/heard that approach on steel before. It made me relisten to Keith Jarrett's Koln Concert recording.
There's definitely nowt wrong with a bit of improvising, some say it can a bit masturbatory, but I'd retort, 'who among us doesn't enjoy a good w :censored: k'
Slainte!

I am indeed a huge fan of Jarrett's solo improvisations...less so his straight jazz. The slapping is, of course, a well-worn guitarist's technique, so it comes naturally to me...I hadn't noticed its unusualness until you mentioned it. I often indulge in it, as I do red wine...I think there might be a causal relation there!

Gary, Thank you for posting this, and all your previous and future posts.
Great to see the varied styles of music possible on the pedal steel guitar.
I especially appreciate your improvisational pieces.
Always interesting and inspiring.
Now, I have to go open a bottle of Red myself, and attack my Lap Steel.
Please keep the videos coming.

Cheers John!

I'm working through a rather good Campo Viejo Reserva, on special at Costco at £6.60 a bottle (currently £11.50 in Tesco). Might be time for another post!!

But seriously, thanks for your support, I really appreciate it.

Is it me, or is this thread taking a Friday-night downward turn?

Come on chaps, drinking's not the answer, get behind your steels, and get working!

Cheers!
