You had an ideal opportunity there (for 1 1/2 minutes) to use fills in between the melody, which after all is what most steel playing is, but you did nothing ????
That's when you should be experimenting, seeing if you can come up with something off the top of your head, you'll get all the gigs when you can do that, cos singers like it when steel players play in the gaps (and not when they're singing), and singers call the shots

Sorry for the harshness of my last post, I do come across as being a bit blunt sometimes.
Here's some fills to demonstrate what I mean, albeit the fiddle doesn't leave much room for steel fills

Lovely stuff Richard
And, sage advice. Constructive criticism is a good thing.

Of course constructive criticism is a good thing.
Much better than being booed off stage whilst having bottles lobbed at ya!

I see what you were saying, but I did not fill in because it was an instrumental. If it was a song with a singer, you are correct then you need to fill in the gaps. So in my situation it wasn't needed because otherwise I would play over another instruments which is not the intention. In my opinion, especially with an instrumental, less is more.
Thank you sir, not yet. It is a kind of a friendship ring we can say ha!
