I am on a voyage of discovery. I have got to like the C6 tuning on lap steel but have now converted my ShoBud. Pedals 1,2, and 3 are now 5,6 and 7 and tuned C6. Knee levers as per Buddy Emmons. I have not forsaken my usual slant jobs as the changes I use are not catered for on pedals. So - Had a go at this on the ShoBud. Some lovely chords to be had.

Well done John. As stated mine was on the C6 neck with some really nice chords. As I have the chords already programmed into Band in a Box I could possibly change the tempo and swing it seeing as you dropped the subtle hint.
I was originally going to do it swing style but then thought it sounds sweeter played slow. The chords I got from Jazz books so things like F#m7b5. Am currently working on "Here's That Rainy Day" so will see how that turns out with lots of Maj7 and Minor7 chords. I am loath to look at others tabs so will carry on my challenge again chords coming from jazz books and listening to Buddy.

Oh yes - another challenge. Am also looking at Toccata in Dm by Bach.

I think we use it in this version..Pat and I were just 23 years old then..Ah the exuberance of youth..
We do include a nice trick at the end, a "Picardy Third" (tierce picarde)

Thanks for that Basil - as usual a couple of nice versions. I have done it again - I am going to have to listen to my version and learn it. I had been playing about with with it, then yesterday morning went into my my den and did the take ad lib so what you hear is what I played off the top of my head. But that's music.

Those chord sheets are interesting as they both differ from the one I took from the Jazz books you sent me but essentially very close. I shall be sussing out what Buddy did with those ad libs. Carol Kaye in an interview stated that jazz was played around the chords rather than scales so I will see when I have sussed it - if I sus it As I said at the start it's a voyage of discovery for me and those pedals - but the slants are not forgotten.

Well that's the easy part over. Chords and melody sussed out But - trying to sus out what Buddy Emmons did in the ad lib second time around just goes to shows the genius of the man. My lack of theory is a blow as I would probably see what he was was doing, but - knowing Buddy he just improvised the whole thing on the spot. God bless mate - we miss you.
