Watson, Haggard, Jones & Wynette, Nelson, Paycheck, Jennings.........all unique and such class!!!
Sadly some are gone but GW's going strong and like a good wine... he is indeed better than ever!
Turning down a gig! I did that once in the seventies! The choice was.. the lady I then loved or a life on the road! The lady 'or the needs of my youth' won! (does that sound familiar to anyone?)
Donny is a dear friend and the lover of the thin sound which he sure created on his Blanton so very well, I spent numerous nights enthralled by his playing in the days of the local 70's country club circuit.
The sound on this clip, I believe, was simply the preferred choice of the player, come on guys is it not always! Ken you have rightly said when players get new amps they simply dial in their preferred tone, is it not always the case?
The sound on this clip is certainly not a Mullen problem, nor would it be on an Emmons, Bud, Zum, Infinity or anything else, at the end of the day it is our own ears and what we perceive to be: [THAT SOUND]
I feel a new thread coming on!
