Yes, I always thought it was a shame that (probably/partly thanks to Ricky Skaggs) Country boy just seemed to get faster and faster to the point of absurdity. Watching poor Gerry Hogan trying to get around it live on steel was not a very pleasant experience for me, so I thought why not play it at a speed that actually allows you to play it with some kind of feeling? So that's what I did. Actually, I recorded it about a year ago, so it's pre-lockdown, and I imagine with all of my enforced practising I could play it better (faster?) now (on the steel anyway), but I like it enough as it is. Yes, I quite like that slightly shambolic picking style on guitar...when it works!!
