Another great release from a unique player, the review is excellent too, the opening paragraph is just about the best description of our instrument I've ever read.

I get bored very quickly with Lanois's 'noodling' style of playing.

He always sounds like he is playing a pedal steel for the very first time, fascinated with the A and B pedals, no blocking technique at all, and terrible volume pedal control.

But, he's made a very lucrative living out of his music, while my feeble offerings pale into insignificance :(

Surprisingly, I kinda' dig the new album. Very atmospheric.

I'm with Harry.

For me, Daniel Lanois has a great way of bringing out the textures that the instrument is capable of creating. Zeb, you're quite right in that his playing is never very technical but I think there's always a interesting ethereal feel to it.

Sounds like a record being played backwards.
Found it difficult to join in on the chorus......
