Tone hound 'Sweltering' Steve Palousek playing the Buddy Emmons inspired classic Night Life. I saw Steve play this 4 years ago at Dallas, and Paul Franklin also played the same number during his own set. I thought that Palousek's version blew away Paul's version, tone (and playing) that evening.

Wow,
If ever I upgrade from a Lap Steel to PSG, it has to be a C6 neck! I know, I know, it wouldn't be easy, but as a Jazz/Standards fan the possibilities on the neck are endless.
Thanks for posting.
Keith.

Hi Tony. Steve has been using a rig made by G D Walker called Stereo Steel (see below) for many years. At last year's Dallas show, he had a good play through a Telonics TCA500 combo amp, and was impressed with it.

Here's a recording of Night Life that Steve did in his home studio a few years back from his album Let The Games Begin. He's playing through his Walker rig, and I reckon the tone is superb. Steve's missus talked me into buying one of his courses complete with CD last year. She helped him through a very difficult period of severe alcoholism when he became extremely ill. I had arranged with Steve to visit him in his home studio 5 or 6 years back, but on the day in question he was in intensive care in a hospital. Thankfully with the support of his family he has recovered somewhat. I rate him in the top 5 steel players around at the moment.

Here is another track from Steve's album that shows off his ability on E9. Again, the tone is wonderful. He has a great ear as a recording engineer. :D
