Pedal Steel Guitar...You Tube...Look for it now!!!!

Fri Sep 25, 2015 9:37 am

Strange to think that six years back there was virtually nothing to be found about Pedal Steel Guitar or its players on these islands of ours.

Just like playing the instrument, it is great what a little effort brings!

Thanks to you tube for the platform!

Good posting Bob and some great playing. It's also nice to put faces to names.

Thanks Bob.

In my case just the midget :?

When I first took up pedal steel and starting searching t'internet for info Bob's site was the first I came across, I learned a lot just going through it. At that time I needed a few nylon tuners and hadn't a clue where to get them. I emailed Bob at his site for advice and he phoned me, arranged to meet and gave me a little bag of tuners. That was my first experience of the pedal steel community spirit and dedication to the instrument.

He can fair poot oot a guid tune as well, just as long as he disnae run oota strings ;)

Goodness Geoff , that seems a long time ago!

Knowledge in some things can be hard to find .................. and it's all in the way it is told!

As you have found ....................We are now a little 'spirited community' with a big 'community spirit'!

See you at the end of the month hopefully, you missed a good'n just past!

Cheers Bob. I think it was about 4 years ago but seems a lot longer, but it's the type of gesture that you tend to remember the way things seem to be these days, it's rare :)

Never thought at that time that I would get so addicted to the instrument, but it's a happy addiction, it gets me through the day looking forward to getting to the bar at night :D

Indeed, that's something I really like about coming to the meetings apart from the wealth of knowledge on offer, it's always a fun night as well as being informative. Just watching and listening to the other players has been very rewarding for me as a player, I count myself lucky that we have such a well organised and friendly group of players here in Scotland. Big thanks to Donny for all the silent work and dedication he puts in to make this happen :guitar:

I'm still kicking myself about not making the last meeting, just too exhausted after a really busy weekend to face the drive and then work in the morning but I'll be at the next one.
