First PSG YouTube video

Wed Mar 11, 2015 2:21 am

I finally got round to recording something for YouTube. I was listening to some 70's music, and this came on by Roberta Flack singing a fabulous song. I jammed along to it and realised I had pretty much nailed the melody. Just a bit of tweaking here and there and "run to record".

Please feel free to criticise, advise etc. It is a bit rough, but I wanted to convey emotion, not just the notes. My volume pedal work is a bit lame, but for a relative beginner I hope it has some merits.

Audio recorded straight to MacBook Pro, using AmpKit which allows you to record a dry, wet and mixed copy for each recording. Synced up to video in Final Cut Pro X. Video recorded on the same MacBook Pro's webcam, in iMovie (easier capture).

I would have liked to internally route the audio mix to iMovie, but Jack OSX no longer seems to work with many things. Why is it that upgrading means losing so many useful software tools.

Anyway enjoy…

I enjoyed that, think I'll try it as well. How long have you been playing ? Keep up the good work, Donny.

Nicely done Bryan, all the basics are there, as you self admit volume pedal is a bit overdone. A tip - try playing without it for a while, let the notes ring out, don't try cutting them off, you will be amazed how much control you can develop by pick and bar work.
We all overdo the volume pedal at times specially in the early days.
A few pitch issues on some of the moves, but a great effort and all going in the right direction, I enjoyed it.
Lets hear more. :guitar:
