Sleep Walk

I can't say this fallaciously cacophonous version will ever be surpassed, but in all probability it's an incredibly unique perspective of the chords, melody and ambience of the original !!

So waddaya think Baz ? should we try `n copy this version or just strike out on our own  ?? :? you must concede he played all the right notes but the order was a little suspect.........IMHO.

Maybe give his version a miss, it may prove difficult to analyse the chord structure !
But as he said, he's "Trying a 1952 Fender Deluxe 6" and I think "trying" is the word..Very trying..
Maybe if we all post links to the original and the sheet music, on this "Player's" YouTube offering, it may help correct his minor infractions !
Oh yes, please bear in mind I use words carefully.. Re-read what I ACTUALLY stated in the original post.

The tune is actually called Sleep Walk, two words !
If he corrected that, then he MAY be on the right road.
All he has to sort out then is the chords, melody, timing and intonation..

It is a little known fact that Les Dawson as well as playing piano was also going to take up lap steel. I think he recorded this and the tape has only just been found.

Reminds me of my wife's singing

Can't be too harsh, He's a pretty young player from what I've seen. But yeah....

He's a University graduate and from what I can gather, living in the UK. In all probability it's a "Piss Take"
I'm not convinced, to me it seems it PROBABLY is a piss take..The chords and harmony are so wrong to the backing, and the whole thing is so bad, YET to play it that way is quite difficult, unless you're tone deaf and musically totally incompetent.
I find it hard to believe that a highly educated young Uni. Grad. has absolutely no musical ear and can't comprehend that the performance is so incorrect..
I don't take prisoners (As you all know) and say it as I see it, in this instance I sincerely believe that it's deliberate. Either way it's insulting to Santo and Johnny and also to the complete Steel Guitar Community.
I'm not setting myself up as an arbiter, others have done that for me.

Age alone is no excuse, I could play better than that at 12 years of age.
I could play most of the steel guitar repertoire by the time I was 16 and don't consider myself exceptional, but do consider him less so.
Just watch how he plays the note on the word "Walk" the VERY same way as Santo, so he's seen the video, ALSO his palm harmonicas are executed SPOT ON..
