Recently been putting a website together to have all my music in a single space. Decided to also include work that I had done previously with bands etc. Long way to go but pleased with the result so far.
This is a song that myself and my writing partner at the time put together some years ago. A few years ago I decided to resurrect it and finish it. Tony Chilvers, who did the original vocal emigrated before completing the song, so I laid down my dulcet tones and completed the vocal on the latter half of the song.
I managed to squeeze in a pedal steel solo in the middle of the song. You can hear it at the link below.

Congratulations Geoff, great project well worth finishing, Loved your comment just managed to squeeze some pedal steel into the track, glad you did it compliments the song, very tasty playing without going over the top ( IMHO ) good vocals from both vocalists.
Must be more where that came from, very enjoyable.

Thanks guys. Yeah, Laurie was a great lyricist and song writer, I particularly like the line - "Bandstand stands where no band stands, for lack of brass at my command", perfectly describes a Bandstand that was built at the top of the Town Park. I don't think a band ever played there, which is strange as at the time there was a lot of brass bands in Fife, and, dare I say (bag), Pipe Bands.
This song was first put together in the late 80's, much shorter and was called Dreamlike State. Laurie, myself and another guy Mitch put it together and entered it into the Radio One Song Writing Competition. We got a runners up award. There were 3 judges on the panel, one of them was Tony Visconti who rated our song as the winner, but the other 2 judges voted for another song. So another chance at the big time went astray!
I put a lot of time and work into this version over a lot of years. There is a lot of other material, mostly unfinished as Laurie kept changing his mind on, well, everything. So I would put together an arrangement and the next week he would want to almost completely redo it, which was frustrating. Pity, cause there were some great songs there. Maybe have another go at some of them.
I was really pleased with the Pedal Steel solo on it, short but worked well in the song.

Very cool Geoff...not country, but you're forgiven (by me at least).
