Today I received sad sad news that one of Irelands Greatest steel players passed away. Aiden Cunningham from County Cavan died this morning.
Aiden was a great steeler, played with most of the top bands in Ireland and was a favorite at the Irish Steel Guitar Festival. He will be sadly missed
by all who knew him. My heart goes out to his lovely wife Bridie and his two beautiful daughters. A sad loss to the Steel Guitar circles.
R.I.P. my friend.

That is very sad news Ted. I loaned my Telonics amp to Aiden when I performed at the Irish Steel Fest. He was a jolly guy and a staunch family man. I enjoyed his company very much. My condolences go to his family and friends. RIP.

So very sad to hear this although we knew from last year's festival that Aiden was terminally ill.
He was a lovely player and a real gentleman. Condolences to his family . RIP.

I just heard this from Donny, I am devastated at Aidan's passing. For a small man he was certainly a larger than life character.
The Scottish crew always had a shed load of fun with Aidan, he will be sadly missed.
My thoughts go out to Bridie and the girls.

Asleep at the steel

Very sad news, I only met Aiden one time and that was many years ago when touring in Ireland, I never did hear him play live but had a great conversation and laugh with him at the bar in the show break.
God bless him.
Dave.
