Sneaky Pete's seat

Postby saddletramp » Sun Oct 02, 2016 9:22 pm

I thought a few of you might enjoy this photo of Sneaky Pete who played in Cardiff in 1975 with The Flying Burrito Brothers. As you can see, this was in the bad old days before comfort was a consideration as he is perched on what looks like a flight case. I was very lucky as a student to see a few top-notch American steel players. In addition to meeting Sneaky Pete, I got see Bobby Black playing with Commander Cody and Hank DeVito with Emmylou. That was a good time for US touring acts.

Hi there,
This is interesting.I recently saw a picture on USA forum of John David Call from Prairie League. He is also seen sat playing his steel on its case.He used 2 pieces of lightweight aluminium ,(which looked as though they folded up), to raise and support the steel case.Maybe this concept could be used as an idea for a steel case / seat in one unit.It would certainly reduce your volume of gear to transport to gigs.
