A funny(strange)tale

I thought this may be interesting and will also allow Me to vent My feelings a little.
Like many players who don't get enough work to satisfy their need to play,I am always on the lookout for something of interest.
I have had lots of contact with bands and players, and I have corresponded with people who range from very experience to very inexperienced.I always endeavour to be polite and understanding in My e mails and everyone I have written to has replied in a similar manner.
Last November I had contact with a guy who said He had many years experience of playing all types of music and was setting up a Country band with a female lead singer. After a couple of e mails He said that since I lived some distance from the band it would be best if He took a bit more time to get the band a bit tighter and He sent a list of 14 songs which they were working on.During December He apologised and said that due to the festive season they had not been getting together but were resuming in Jan.In following e mails He informed me that they were doing well with the 14 songs and another two sessions and they would be ready to have Me along for a try out,at the same time He asked if I knew a drummer who may be interested and could I suggest a good name for a band.could I suggest contacts for work.A few days ago I sent him an e mail saying that I wasn't sure if His band were getting off the ground and since I had other options to follow I would not be available at short notice to rehearse with Him.I cannot print His reply here but it was a short message telling Me that I was an F word idiot for not noticing that He did not want Me as part of His band and then He went on to let Me know I was an effing thicko. Without lowering Myself to His level I thanked Him for His interest and hoped that He would let Me know when,if ever they got a drummer,a name ,a gig and a set list I could come and have a laugh at Him.
There is nowt as queer as folk.

Yes Billy, they are certainly out there mate. You did well not to drop to the idiot's level which sometimes is hard not too.
I wonder who else he has wasted their time.

I would suggest that they call the band the Symbolics. But insist that you would only join them if you can be called Sym and the rest is for them!!

Davie, I think I will have a re-think on how I describe Myself to a potential employer.I always said "Handsome,Young, pedal Steel player"
Three blatant lies. I am thinking of saying I am mature !! I am like a mature cheese,,,I smell !!

Billy, what a strange tale. I mean, what part of "We are nearly ready, here's 14 songs to work on" is supposed to mean "we don't want you"? I had somebody down here string me along for a couple of months before vanishing without trace, but at least the band I was with (briefly) said (when sacking me) "we have decided to work with a fiddle player instead". Given their choice of material, it was better to use a fiddle. I'd have to be some kind of damn sh*t hot chicken picker to keep up with their "country rock" approach. Never mind, all experience is good experience I suppose.

Here's another one, though not in the same league. Having recently moved to North Tyneside, I joined a web based agency that puts musicians in touch with each other. I heard nothing for several months, then, out of the blue, an email alert urged me to look on the website. A local female 'country-ish' singer had contacted me, asking me if I'd listen to some of her songs (link provided) and asked me to consider recording with her. I listened, thought I could add something to the songs, and duly replied, same day. Nothing came back, so I checked her website - yes, she had a website - and contacted her via a given email address. Nothing. I noticed she was on Facebook, so I joined Facebook and contacted her... you guessed it, nothing! (So I cancelled Facebook again).
Now, it's no skin off my nose either way. She might have found a better steel player (that wouldn't be difficult) or decided to go into Goth Metal instead - but you'd have thought she'd have replied to at least one of my efforts to contact her!
