Should those people who sell items on this site make a small donation much in the same way that the policy is on the USA site? Just a thought.

Ken, I donate randomly to the US forum on the basis of use, info and enjoyment; I did so recently but that was my choice, purely voluntary as my conscience dictated. What would make me happiest is if we could get away from the whole hang up of donation here for now and just move the site on, though it must be said to those who have already supported … a very big thank you!

Point taken Bob. I wasn't trying to prolong the issue into a saga, or indeed hung up on the topic. I will refrain from the subject in the future.

I also make occasional payments to the American site and have already made a small donation to this site to help get it up and running, and yes, I think a donation as suggested by Ken would be a good thing if it helps to maintain the site. ( by the way Ken RV7 is on its way, Jim.)

Thanks Jim. Wifey posted your cheque off for me this morning.

I hadn't read this post until today Ken but I did suggest the same thing to Uncle Roy the other day. I think it might also cut down on the number of people who join just to sell and don't make any contribution otherwise.

i can only talk from my personal point of view, im just in the process of selling an item, and while i have no objection to donating, say? 5% of my money, to the bss, i did donate above and beyond the suggested donation last year, thats how i operate, its my way of doing things, but i know Bob finds the whole donation thing a little embarrasing, and i understand that fully, who likes having to ask for money? i know i dont, and there will always be those who can but wont donate, and they know who they are, so how do we work it? we also had one or two people who enjoy and contribute topics to the forum, but are not in a good financial position, its a difficult one, is it possible we could allow Bob to continue to do the great work he does, but at the same time appoint a treasurer, solely responsible for allowing the forum to operate financially? im just floating an idea !

for those who like & need the forum, a yearly donation is the least they can do
the same goes for donations from sales here -
since they are not required, one has the choice as you give in return or not
let one's conscience be the guide
humor : should Scots be exempted ?
(money wise, not conscience)
