Toe in the water
With Hurrican Jude well on the way, I had a great time last night guesting with "Mystery Train", a local blues/roots/folk/country band at the Red Bull, Newnham, Cambridge. It was all the more atmospheric because the lighting fuse had gone, so we only had candles. Pedal Steel by Braille - what an idea!
For those of us with limited experience, events like this are so good for one's confidence. I can really recommend this lurking at open mic events - a perfect baptism of fire. You never know what is coming next, it's up to you to work it out on the fly, and contribute comething useful. If you're lucky they'll even tell you what key it's in. Great fun!
