With Hurrican Jude well on the way, I had a great time last night guesting with "Mystery Train", a local blues/roots/folk/country band at the Red Bull, Newnham, Cambridge. It was all the more atmospheric because the lighting fuse had gone, so we only had candles. Pedal Steel by Braille - what an idea! :lol:

For those of us with limited experience, events like this are so good for one's confidence. I can really recommend this lurking at open mic events - a perfect baptism of fire. You never know what is coming next, it's up to you to work it out on the fly, and contribute comething useful. If you're lucky they'll even tell you what key it's in. Great fun! :guitar:

Nice one Will ! glad your getting stuck in! When are you coming over to see me again?? I have the pedal power supply you ordered and a CD of your playing at the woodford jam..... they gave it to me because you were sunning yourself in forign parts.......

here in France, we call it the sand box - indeed it's a great place to build up confidence, chops & experience
i try to jump in there as much as possible

HI Will,
I am also a starter. Hi Shaun, after a bad year last year with my Wife health wise, I am starting to pick up again, I have a Gretch 6 string Electromatic which i am happy with. I recently did a "Pick & chord" backing for a local Country & Weston gig here in Banstead. Just a shame my line in the PA system bombed out just as we started the number, it looked good apparently though! At least I got the front line nerves down, I Will certainly do it again.
