Anyone know anything about this guy, multi instrumentalist ,pedal steel, lap steel, guitar, mandolin, and dobro, and from what I can hear, plays them well.Had not heard of him, or remember seeing his name on here. When you can get Albert Lee to guest on your CD you've got to be good. :)

Hi Malcolm, love that new guitar of yours.
Scott has been around and playing steel for a good many years, a good player, coincidently enough an earlier post asked about the guy playing pedal steel on a Rubbettes album- Rick West a long time member of The Tremeloes, both these guys are excellent pickers, but because neither have ever been involved (welll hardly) with the UK country music scene they arn't known by name, however! both have long lists of recording and production credits.
There are a hell of a lot of other pickers out there who have played pedal steel since the year plonk, some amazingly talented guys amongst them, they just havnt been recognised faces on the UK country music scene, in both the above cases these guys have prefered to play a low profile.

Havn't heard so much of Scott's playing for years but Rick West is ace, he could speed pick with the best of UK and European steelies.

Add to the above the likes of Keith Buck, Keith tours with the Eagles cover band Talon, (pretty sure that Derek Thurlby also did a while back) Keith played guitar with Wishbone Ash many years ago, also played steel on Tony Christies Collection ~#1 Album and has many other album credits he is a great great player been on the scene for years but not a readily recognised named steelie.

Dave.

Sorry Roy, guess I missed that one, as you say nice guy and a good player.
Caught him a few times with Talon, never very high in the theatre mix but he plays the Al Perkins Eagles parts very well.

Dave, thanks for compliments about guitar.Used to go and see Talon when Del Boy worked with them, he used to come to our place on down time to have something to eat (charged him a fair price) Is Rick the guy who played lead with Trems? You are right about steel being low in Talon mix, their sound guy did not particularly like steel or any guest musos for that matter.

I saw Scott play last year with Kevin Montgomery in Bristol. He's a good player on pedal and lap steel and guitar. He was part of Kevin's pickup band called The Endangered Livers. I don't know if he has been playing too long because I'd say he's only in his late 20s or early 30s. I had a brief chat with him after the gig. He plays a Rains.

He has been on the US SGF this week looking to borrow/hire a steel in Nashville. I think he's there recording. AFAIK he will be touring the UK again with Kevin Montgomery in January/February 2014.

Nice one Malcolm. Like you say anyone who can get Albert to feature is no muppet! Really enjoyed the features and am determined to find out more. After all, Liverpool is only fifty miles from me here in the outback. I also thought my eight track mixing desk was complicated until I saw this.
Regards, H.
