I'm off to Nashville, any tips???

Postby elparkirio » Thu May 02, 2013 5:07 pm

Gentlemen, I'm going to be in Nashville for a week in the middle of June, do any of you have any recommendations of places to go, people to see etc? I'll have my steel with me and I'd love to see some gigs, find some open sessions and have a play and maybe grab a few lessons while i'm out there...Any ideas???

I heard the Time Jumpers have moved from the Station Inn to a bigger place somewhere downtown. Enjoy your trip and the Time Jumpers if you see them. Regards Graham

Hi Matt
I'd also want to go to Gruhn's Guitar Shop (which I think is in Nashville) just to drool over the fantastic guitars he has for sale. :guitar:
I'd also want to go to Bobbe Seymour's psg shop - a little out of town I think, but for pretty much the same reasons as above, plus the chance to try out some steels in the shop and just 'chew the fat'.
Enjoy!

Lower Broadway is the place for pubs. There is live music from about 10am until 2am the best times are about 5pm on and most of the bands have pedal steel. All pubs are near one another. The Country Music Hall of Fame is only a short walk away and is well worth a visit.
The timejumpers are now at 3rd and Lyndsay.Make sure You also
see Mike Sweeney He plays at the Wheel and the Stage on Lower Broadway. There's nothing happening at Printers Alley.
There is a good wee tour bus at the far end of Broadway which is a nice drive around for about $15 per person.
Have a good time.

And get a taxi to the station inn.

Then you can drink jugs of beer,to wash the pizza down...

I am just wondering, you going for a week? and taking your steel? What's that all about? Next, you'll be marrying and living there!

I would get on the american steel guitar forum and ask on there about your week in Nashville.
You better get advice, otherwise you will be struggling to find steel guitars, and fiddles, although Billy's advice sounded accurate and good.
CD's and individual tracks available to download from iTunes and CD Baby.
Email [email protected] for tuitional material and lessons.

Thanks David, already got on the US forum, with some good responses...

As for moving there, possibly, but getting married, nah!
