Silver Surfer Gig.

Hi guys, did you ever do one of those gigs where you had the feeling it was not going to be a good one.
Bill and myself did a last-minute gig for a large old folks home last Sunday, and it was problems right from the car park.
First off we had to carry all the gear through collective controlled doors where the operator was not always present, once it was all inside we had to carry it to the lift area, then place it in the lift, and taking up to the first floor at stack it all in the corridor by the lift.
Then we had to take the gear through two large rooms to an alcove at one end of the last room.
After setting the gear up, doing a sound check, changing into stage gear, I just didn't feel up to it, but being a couple of old pros we got on with the job.
After three or four songs and no reaction we were told most of the audience were hard of hearing, but I suppose that must be expected from time to time.
By the first break as hard as I tried I couldn't settle into the gig, with no response from our attempts to entertain them I found I was missing simple turnarounds and lick's that I had been doing for years.
Call it what you may, lack of feedback, age, or just plain tiredness, it wasn't my day.
Up to last Sunday I hadn't had a bad gig for back along as far as I could remember, let's hope we don't have too many more of those or I shall be packing up my bed and walking.
I suppose from time to time everyone of us has a bad gig, and it's not something we like to think too much about, so let's hope that was the last one like that.
Any of you guys had a bad one of late?.
