Yes I to was talking to Herby at Dallas and had photo taken with him, a very nice gentleman and a sad loss to the steel community, thoughts are with his family.

Just come back home after being away for a few days. This is really bad news. Like the other boys, I spoke to him at Dallas in March, and bought a DVD from him of a live show featuring Herby, Hal Rugg and Tom Morrell.

I spent an hour or two in his company over dinner three years back when he told me about the full extent of his stroke and the impact it has had on his playing and his life. He was a very interesting man, a tremendous technician in his prime and a great ambassador for steel guitar.

He actually looked quite well at the Dallas show, but his playing had sadly declined from his very high standard due to the stroke. My thoughts are with his family.

Herby was a unique and wonderful person, as anyone who ever spoke with him can attest. He will be missed by many. God bless him.

Yes, like Malcolm, I had my picture taken with Herby at Dallas. This was the first I had met him and I found him to be a very nice person who was so humble. God Bless you Herby!
