Absolutely John. Listen too to Mike's break on Brad Paisley's 'Me Neither'. Stunning fast picking.

He is one of the top players in Nashville. I have a load of DVD's featuring Mike on his red Emmons push pull (he uses a Franklin on his sessions), and his playing is never short of sublime. He is a close friend of Clem Schmitz, who sends me DVD's that he records of different players playing on live gigs, including Mike.

Mike Johnson is in my personal top 10 E9 players.
Show Pro D10 (amber) 8 + 6, MSA Signature XL D10 (redburst) 9 + 6, Sho~Bud D10 (sunburst) Pro 111 8 + 6, Emmons D10 Push Pull - (black) 8+5, Zumsteel D10 (blue) 8 + 8, Hudson pedal resonator, 10 string lap steel. Telonics, Peavey & Webb amps,

Mike is certainly a stunning player and he is an extremely nice person,no ego whatsoever.
I have been fortunate over the past number of years to have been able to meet many great players at Dallas.
Each and every one of the "World's best" have been really friendly people, this fact makes them World class.
Mike and many others are in the same mould as the Late Pappa John, they are all different in style but all are true Gentlemen.

i recently had to learn a bunch of tunes that Mike played on for WC Edgar
what blew me away is how he pushes the melodic parts upward past what i'm used to playing & how he takes them up high past fret 15
his intonation & feeling are excellent
i tabbed out his version of "workin' man blues" & mailed him for confirmation on it
his reply was most courteous & reassuring
he's an "out of box picker" for sure & one of my favorites as well
