Paul's plays great here as usual. I find Dawn's vocals a bit piercing when she gives it some welly, and I have heard her live loads of times in Nashville. She is a good singer, but the sound engineers need to give her a warmer mic to combat the shrillness.

My friend put this clip and a bunch of other clips from the same series onto DVD for me. The sound production is excellent. Paul is just brilliant on the series. Another set of recordings that I like are the Country Friends sets done in Nashville, featuring Mike Johnson throughout on steel.

Some wonderful steel playing there, and bar work to behold, fabulous, and i just love how the band never play over each other, less is more, i have also seen these guys and gal in action in Nashville, and i suppose we are all entitled to our opinions, and must, of course respect others opinions, but i find Dawn's vocals anything but shrill, i thought the comment was a little harsh, not the vocals, imo, i think she is a lovely singer, with great control over the power in her voice, great light and shade,

I can't listen to Dawn Sears, as I can't stand the continuous 'catches' in her singing.

I only got to 35 seconds into the video, she'd already done a few, but then there was one so annoying that I just couldn't tolerate listening to any more of it.

How nice at last to be able to wholeheartedly agree with Eddie !
'catches'
goes right over the top of my head?? but then again I spose she has caught me :? ;) :? I just love her singing even to the point of now giving up on Lorretta :( I think she just oozes something I cannot put my finger on (BWL2) her rendition of sweet memories is IMHO beyond equal and how she got through the song without shedding a tear or two for John H.... I will never know...certainly caused one or two at this end! :(

She's a good example of a "well trained" singer - great power, control, intonation, etc but............My wife can't stand her. She just says "that singer is trying to blow my head off!"

My wife says that too Paul. We have seen the Time Jumpers live a number of times, and twice with Vince Gill in the band. I have actually seen one or two people put their hands over their ears when Dawn has 'pushed' her vocal as it has pierced right through. She does sing well, and Sweet Memories always receives a rapturous response from the audience. I just wish her voice was a little more mellow and didn't cut through in the way it does when she powers the higher notes. Rose Marie from Ireland is somewhat the same. JMHO.

Got to agree with JD, Dawn is one of my favourite singers, her Sweet Memories with John Hughey is my all time favourite, have listened to her version with Paul it doesn't have the "feeling" of the first one, although playing and and singing is superb.Perhaps the sound engineer at the live gigs should be more on the ball knowing how powerful Dawn's voice is.

John, We actually agree a lot more than you either realise, or care to admit, if memory serves me right, it was actually you who posted 'sweet memories' with John Hughey, shortly after his passing away, and i thank you for that, it remains high on my playlist, is on my facebook page as one of my great influences, and led me to seek out the Station Inn on a monday night, while i was in Nashville, i certainly didnt see anyone cupping their hands to their ears while Dawn sang, that would be the height of ignorance, and i just couldn't imagine that happening in that particular establishment, i had a lengthy chat with Dawn, she was lovely, and made time to chat to me, we spoke of how i wished John Hughey could have been there that night, and she left me in no doubt as to how much she missed him,
as for the negative views x3, i did say we are all entitled to our own opinions, but seems to me that two of those negatives, actually came from the posters wives? :?: hmmm? :?: or am i over analysing? whilst the third came from someone i have yet to see actually complimenting someone else, apart from his own youtube offerings, which i agree are quite good,[compliment :P ] but at least that is his own opinion, 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
