Hello everybody, James from West Yorkshire here.

I've just signed up to the forum today because I want to publicly thank John Davis for his excellent service.

Last week, I bought a volume pedal from him that was advertised in this forum's 'For Sale' section. John very helpfully dealt with my telephone queries about the item and he had posted the item to me within half-an-hour of my payment going through!

The item was as described, well-packed for its journey up north and John even threw in a complimentary pack of strings (plus a wound 6th for my temperamental Carter Starter).

It's very easy to see why John enjoys such a good reputation on this forum so, once again, thank you John!

Hi Tony, I'm in Halifax.

I'm just outside of Bedale - junction 51 off A1. Keep watching this forum for details of the North of England Steel Guitar Festival (13th & 14th August at the Buck Inn, Thornton Watlass - HG4 4AH), free to attend. Also there's the Steel Guitar North irregular Sunday lunchtime sessions, next one is Sunday 24th April meet up about 11.30 until around 3.00 - 3.30.

Thanks for that info, Tony - very helpful. Barring any emergencies, I will come along to the April meeting.

What's the format of the lunchtime sessions? Is there scope for borrowing an amp or does every player bring their own?

It's a very informal meeting, you'll be able to borrow an amp no bother; I can bring one for you anyway. We meet up, tune up for 3 hours - only kidding!
This next time Keith Glendenning (Plank Marvin) and I hope to have some tunes lined up for a round robin. We'll circulate the tunes with key and tempo so everyone can join in - or not. The idea is to have everyone listening to gather tips etc. on playing the tunes. There's a short break for lunch; the pub does meals from roast dinner to sandwiches, when there's an opportunity to discuss tunings, techniques, maintenance etc. We're there to help each other, there's no place for negative criticism and all levels of ability are encouraged.
