This Virus and Our 'Full Time Players'

Our infrastructure appears to be falling round our ears as the world grinds to a rapid halt, there are so many ripples appearing in the pond when one thing after another is 'shut down.'

I am conscious of our guys how are totally reliant on the music industry for their income, no travel, no shows, no contact, no income!! Not a nice place to be!

I'm not putting this up to look for donations but simply looking for ideas as to how some of these guys can continue to earn in the current circumstances.

If any of you have a great idea I understand you may not want to share it but .....that's what we do in the PSG community! We are a family and I would like to think we can act like it.

Who knows a gem may unfold!

Good point Bob - my wife and I were just discussing how this sort of thing will affect our local community with people self-employed in all manner of jobs...
For the pro players in our steel guitar family, I wonder if there would be a market for selling some pre-recorded video lessons/TAB or even doing one-on-one Skype tuition? I know this wouldn't make up for the loss of income from gigs, etc. but it may help a tiny bit. Pre-recorded lessons could of course be sold to multiple people without any additional investment on the part of the tutor.
It's just a thought - I would happily purchase a video lesson or two (probably pre-recorded is better for me as it takes a long time for information to find its way into my brain) if anyone is keen to produce them. Also happy to pay a bit above the 'going rate', given the circumstances.
Feel free to shoot me down if that was a stupid idea, but I thought it was worth sharing

I know that some young acts I know on the British country scene are going to be playing virtual live shows via Facebook Live, YouTube, Twitch and etc.
Through this you can have a tip jar and people can donate whatever they desire. Some people donate out of kindness/enjoyment and some people just donate so they can have their name pop up on the screen (or a silly message).

This is going to be a very very trying time for self employed musicians like myself. But things I can do to try and stay afloat will be predominantly online. I am available for both online recording sessions and online lessons but won't be relying on this as I know it won't cover my outgoings.

I really hope there is some package for folks in my situation, I haven't heard it yet, but i fear that on the other side of this there will be a greater divide between the have's and the have not's.

You lot take care out there and if I can help anyone give me a shout.

Majority of full time musos I know are now looking for delivery jobs etc, as several months of gigs have be cancelled/postponed in a hurry!
A sobering experience for sure, Bob!
