How'zat for service ??

I had the pleasure of Mick Hearn's company for a few hours yesterday, about a week ago Mick was saying how he would like a Remington double 8....now he has it and I don't know if there is another in the country ?? boy can he play it!! that man has more slants than a room full of china men!!
I hope he will soon give us a little video of what he can do with it without the pressure of me hovering over him with a camera ???

Well thanks for the kind words everyone. Some saw the steel in action at the NESGF although it was not my best playing. Nerves got hold of me again and even had a complete mind blank on one occasion. However there are some videos about now so you can hear it in action live.
I have to thank John for getting hold of this although I reckon once he knew I was in the market for one he made a hasty phone call. But I don't mind that at all as I now have a beautiful guitar and at a very reasonable price so am over the moon. I learned a bit more from Basil at the NESGF about the guitar as he was friendly with Herb Remington. George L E-66 pickups meaning Emmons pickup spec from 1966. The sustain goes on forever and I must stop laying into this guitar like I had to with the National. I haven't quite mastered it yet as it is a different guitar to the National.
As for the slants? Well it's the way I prefer to play and I find it easier than pedals. In so doing I think I have created a sound which is a bit different although you won't get the big handful of strings in chords as you can on pedal, only if you are using straight bar. Even though I will play pedal steel tunes I have to do my own arrangements because of that factor which puts an identity to the playing. Some will like it and some may not but I do not intend to change. And some of the positive comments I have received from people like Bill Ferguson (Alias Steelpicker), Andy Volk and Basil H gives me the urge to carry on the way I am.
As for tunings? Most of what I play is on the C6 neck. The front neck I usually have a Leon McCauliff E13 but with the addition of a high G#. That's the tuning I used for my version of Blue Jade and Blue Steel Blues but I am still finding my way around.

Here is the guy that made your steel Mick...... His front room was very much like mine but full of planks. Don't know who the good looking guy is that is with with him but I like his T-shirt.

In answer to Slim's question the two tunings on the guitar when received was C6 and what is known as the true E13 according to Doug Jernigan.
