Arrived yesterday in Fort Worth, and now firmly ensconced in my hotel in Irving with thunder and lightning going mad outside. I am told that Ted Nesbitt and Ivor Greenwood are also here, and I look forward to sparring with Ivor over the merits of cast vs machined endplates. Spencer Scott is due here at any time, and I understand that Geoff Noble is coming over too. Mike Fereday will make a guest appearance as usual, and Kiwi Paddy Long is definitely on his way. Paddy is playing on the main stage on Friday night, so I have 2 days in which to make sure he is fully lubricated before he goes on!

It is 'meet up at the bar' time this evening, and we have already arranged to charge all of the drinks to Mr McMiser. They still have his card details from last year, so we will enjoy every drop that passes through our lips.

I will post some pics of the weekend on this thread. Forgot to bring my cameras, so it will have to be with my iPhone.

Mr Bling, Geoff and his good lady should be there already, it would seem that senility has indeed set in, no camera, what sort of reporter would do that? Ivor if you are reading this, don't take any nonsense from Bling, just give him a slap if he needs it.Just saw Mike Johson had to cancel due family illness, so don't feel quite so bad about missing show.Enjoy everyone.

Yes - Mike's mother has been taken ill. I'm obviously hoping beyond all hopes that she makes a full recovery. I know that Mike and Joanie were looking forward to doing Dallas this year. I hope to see them in Nashville next week. I am meeting up with Manfred Schall at the Station Inn. I know that Manfred will be disappointed too that Mike can't make Dallas.

One of the guys just told me that McMiser is so mean that he turns the ignition off on his car when he goes downhill to save diesel.

Had a knock on the hotel door this afternoon. It was Geoff Noble and his missus. Geoff has a new MSA on order and is picking it up this weekend. He showed me a picture of it on his phone. Looks a belter - a Mark Giles special.

Earlier this morning the phone went in my room. A voice told me that there was a fire in the building and to evacuate it immediately. For a nanosecond in my mind I had my suitcases in my hands and my clothes over my shoulder. Then I thought I detected a slight Irish twang to the caller's voice and realised that my old mate Ivor the Driver was having me on. I was asked to join him and Ted for breakfast at Cracker Barrel, which was my intention in any case. We spent a pleasant hour chewing the fat and discussing the gossip on steel guitar world. Ivor was in good form and funny as he usually is.

I had an email from Mike Johnson's drummer, Jim Hartley, inviting me to his band's (Still Country) gig at the Nashville Palace this coming Monday. I was going to see the Time Jumpers, but having never been to the Nashville Palace I will be going to see his band there instead.

Just off now to the Sheraton for a social get-together. I'm acting chauffeur, so it's cola only for me tonight.
