If nothing else, this project has emphasised what we all knew all along, and that is how versatile the steel guitar is as an instrument. What was pleasing to me was that there is no tablature in place for this tune, so everyone had to put their thinking caps on and improvise. Because there is no rhythm section on the backing track, it was not easy playing the lead part with just a piano or voices setting the tempo, and the timing was all over the place. I'm so proud of what the guys did under the circumstances, and I think the end result bears out how it was worth everyone's hard work.

Country tunes have been done thousands of times, but this was much more of a challenge. The whole thing was inspired by the relay that was done in the States by a lot of their top players each playing a segment of John Lennon's Imagine. I'm not sure if we will do another recording, as Danny Mitchell kindly produced the end product, and I think he did an outstanding job. It will only happen if those who participated would be up for another go, along with a few more volunteers. Picking the right tune is crucial, and it doesn't necessarily have to be country. We have so many great players in the UK, and I feel that there could be a mini masterpiece waiting to happen.

In these uncertain times where few of us can show off what live musical skills we have to others, those of us that have home recording facilities can at least put our abilities out there for others to enjoy. Some of the folks on this site do record things already, but this is the first time to my knowledge that a piece has been played by British individuals playing segments.

Tremendous effort by all involved, great playing and great production.
Today is a sad day for me, due to circumstances my Steel guitar was collected yesterday and is winging its way to the Isle of Man as I write, this is the first day without a steel since Easter 1967, quite an emotional day.
Listening to you boys playing has cheered my day no end, thanks lads.
