Just come in to this tonight:

Part of an email from a friend across the water which I'm sure he won't mind me sharing here!

************************************************************************************************************************

I've just come back from the wake and spoken to Aidan's wife and to Aoife and Ciara. They're heartbroken but relieved that his suffering has ended.

Aidan and myself were in boarding school together in the 60s and learned guitar together. He left that school quite early on, as guitar playing was frowned on ( being associated with those decadent Beatles )! He took up steel and went on to work with many well known bands. I ended up teaching school and playing in a semi pro band which went very well for about 15 years. We had an excellent Thursday night residency ,which lasted for years and Aidan used to sit in with us once a month and gave us a different sound on those nights. Good times.

Looking at his remains in the coffin, I could guess that the last weeks had been very hard on him...RIP

Bless him, he had such a big heart! What he lacked in height he effervesced in personality! He was infectious and thankfully there was no antibiotic that could take that away! Willie, Donny and I were talking over the good times tonight at Gartcosh, we will miss him! .. Big Time!!

I know much love goes out from us all to Bridie, Aoife and Ciara!

RIP.Aidan!

I met Aiden a few times at the ISGF and am saddened by this news. Such a nice guy and tasty steel player. Rest in Peace old friend.
