yeah good point Dave, re fret markers, im using a steel with the raised sho bud markers, so yeah, they are well defined, so maybe easier, but the fact that you are aware of not quite pitching right, would suggest that your only problem is, having a different steel to contend with, you will soon get familiar with it, you dont get to have played at wembley several times unless you are pretty darn good, and can pitch, its the players who are not pitching well, and dont realise it, that are the worry,
just one other thing regarding ear training, i quite often hum a note in my head, then walk over to one of my guitars and play an 'E' and am never even as much as a semi tone out, i do surprise my self with that one, does anyone else find the same???

I hummed a lot when I was in Nepal, both in the mantra sense and through the constant lack of clean kit.
Eddie, re your humming capabilities, interesting, If I want to have a go, do I hum and walk towards my steel while still humming? and is it ok if I have to bend the pitch a little when arriving at my steel and finding out Im humming an Eb instead of E?
Incidently I just gave it a try and my dog bit me,must have been the pitch I was humming.

YES! dogs can be very sensitive to noise! NO! the acid test is, start singing 'peaceful easy feelin' as you walk towards the guitar, pick up the guitar, and start strumming in E, without changing the pitch of your vocals, im very sorry both the 'EXILED BRUMMIE ONE' and the 'SCOTTISH ONE' felt it neccesary to lower the tone [or pitch] of the conversation, by bringing bum notes and body odour, curry and dogs into it, and
yes, getting back to the subject, playing in the hughey zone is the real test, but great training for the ears,

Eddie, just tried what you suggested, peacfull easy feelin (shouldnt there be a g on then of that? you have been told about that before) well! I started singing, not sure of the words though, so used a bit of White Christmas to the tune of peacfull easy feelin, picked up the guitar, strummed an E chord, I was bloody miles out. More help and advice please?

I found out the Eagles have been singing it in a different E key from Me.
I do'nt know the Brummie anthem but "Flower of Scotland and Men of Harlech"Are also in the wrong key??

tis my intention to get recording again, and desperado would be an apt choice of song, but i recently had to relocate my home studio, owing to the fact that i er got, er caught, er playing in the wrong flat, and it wasn't Bb, that apart, i just need to re organise, in fact you have inspired me to seek some advice re hosting of my music, i shall do that right now on the recording section,
ps. cant pitch in G#, will Ab be ok?????????????/
