Practicing? Im with Richard on this one, my steel is set up permenantly in my spare room, I will sit at it when the mood takes me and just play (most days when health allows) but I dont consider it practice, I guess I did all the practice xxxx years ago, now playing is purely for fun and enjoyment, I play anything that takes my mind, I know my way around the two boards E9th/C6th sorting out melodies/chord structures doesnt present major probs, speed playing/picking still does, but then again I aint planning going anywhere as a steelie, been a far as I wanted in the past, had the t shirts (they dont fit now
Now? I just love my steel, when I sit at it I still get the same buzz as I did years ago I have to admit that I am now going backwards as regards playing,the brain and hands know what Im trying to do but it really doesnt happen on the fretboard or 'outa da speakers' but its still very enjoyable.
I admire the UK guys that are taking the instrument forward, and certainly 'the more they play the better they will get'
