Peavey LTD 400 - Questions?

Postby hickenjr » Tue Dec 23, 2025 3:58 pm

Hi All,

Hoping some members of a certain vintage can answer a couple of questions please? I'm not 100% concrete with this but I might be in the market for a Peavey LTD 400. (Not the later Session 400 Limited).

I'd just like to ask firstly, what is the weight? I used to lug about my dad's later "Limited" model pre Covid, and it was a hernia waiting to happen. I've got too used to throwing Class D frisbees about for the last 5 years, so I think a Session 400 style combo in the middle ground of weight would be great. I've been following the new Peavey project but with the numerous delays of production, it's given me a little time to think if I really need another Class D, Neo speaker amp. There's just something about the BW old school solid state sound.

Secondly...what was the export market like for these in Britain? Were they popular? I've seen plenty of "Limited" models, the odd few 70s Session 400s, but very rarely have I seen LTDs. I don't know if it would be a game of needle in a haystack and best spending my energy looking into something like a new Standel or just biting the bullet with the new Peavey.

Many thanks in advance.
Kind Regards, Steven Hicken Jr.

Hi Steven
I had one, picked it up for a song replaced the BW with Telonics 15 and the weight was doable. The Celestion bn300 15 is a decent alternative. Merry Christmas and good luck with your search.
