Steel playing in Edinburgh...

Postby Peter Nylund » Fri Jul 08, 2011 1:18 pm

I wonder, can I listen to any steel playing in Edinburgh between July 25th and July 30th? We will be over for a short holiday there.

Bob/Peter, don't think there would be much in way of steel in Edinburgh. The clubs very rarely have any bands with steel, mainly non talented duos miming to backing tracks. As far as I know none of us from the west coast will be playing Edinburgh at that time. The only band I can think of in Edinburgh is the Alt country band The Wynntown Marshalls, perhaps you can check their web site.Personally I will not be playing Edinburgh till October.
MSA Millennium SD1O, GK MB200,Sica 12 and Telonics 15 speakers , Joyo American Sound pre amp, Jay Ganz Straight Ahead 500w class D Amp, Hilton pedal, Peterson tuners,Digitech RP150,Scott Dixon seat/ flight case.

Peter,
Apologies for not helping.
I am only aware of one club in Edinburgh which is the Tucson Club.It is on a Monday night and is situated in Shrub tree place which is off Leith walk.
I am only aware of four bands with pedal steel who play there and unfortunately non of them are appearing on the dates You mentioned.
The Club scene in Scotland is pretty bad at the moment,as Malcolm has said, there are a lot of clubs using duo's with backing tracks.
You will still have a good time in Edinburgh, there are plenty of "music" pubs around the centre(Royal Mile)
have a good time

As we were unable to find any steel guitar music for Peter, I invited him and his wife Mette, to my house for a barbie, some of the invited guests included :the celloobrius Bob Adams, the lovely Olly, and the Raining World Air Steel Guitar Champion Ronnie McAllister, vast amounts of food and drink were consumed the weather was stunning, and Peter played some lovely steel on the Williams. A great day was had by all.
