Hi Donny.
How are you getting on with the Deusenberg? I would love to have the Fairytail but in the meantime I've fitted the Deusenberg palm pedals to a cheap Artisan lap steel and I'm really enjoying it. I found this guy on Youtube and he has inspired me to keep at it.

Hi Neil, I haven't done very much with the guitar up till now, I have added a 3rd palm pedal and changed the tuning to an e9th type tuning, Have had to have the 3rd pedal specially made, it is being fitted tomorrow. Will keep you informed, thanks for your enquiry. Regards, Donny.

Good luck with the new adventure Donny! Ive always found switching instruments to be a very positive thing though somewhat expensive! And its good to know you’ll still be around to pass on your years of steel experience to the great unwashed!
Hopefully your new gadget will be ready to give us all a rendition of ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’ on Tuesday.....

Thanks for the reply Donny. I hav'nt tried E9 tuning so I would be very interested how you get on with the three levers and which strings they work on. Just in case you fancy fitting a fourth Thoman do them. Not cheap at £37 each.

For those unaware of the adaptation the replacement middle lever now allows the chord change without interfering with the outer levers, both actions are free and working well....

Thank again Bob. The magician does it again, the 2 outside levers are standard, the middle one is a Bob Adams special, it sits lower than the other 2,I can now use the outside 2 without touching the middle one.

Hi Donny. Sorry to hear your news but at least you are not giving up playing altogether. That guitar looks great. I would agree with the others - hang on to the pedal steel for the time being. As I had taken on the lap steel and doing fairly well I was going to think about selling the ShoBud. I am glad I didn't because like you I am on a new learning curve. I've tuned it C6 and the three pedals and knee levers I have set up as 5,6, and 7 of C6 neck. I can still do what I was doing on the lap steel with the bar slanting but can also use the pedals for some lovely chords. The combination of the two makes for some interesting stuff.

I still hope to see you at the NESGF so don't go away buddy.

Donny, sad to hear this but I totally understand, even after going for ultra light gear I still struggle with my back, on the very few occasions I play, I walk about like the hunchback of Notre Dam for days after, it is not just the carrying, sitting at gigs really hurts, so I wish you well with your new venture. I deeply appreciate all the help and instruction you gave me over the years.
