Mike Johnson in Glasgow

Thu Mar 09, 2017 3:55 pm

Had a text from Mike Johnson at lunchtime today. He said that he had just landed at Glasgow in advance of the Reba MacEntire gig tomorrow night. He then flies down to London on Saturday for the O2 then on to Dublin on Sunday night. That's what you call a hectic schedule. I was hoping to meet up with Mike this weekend, but it looks as though I will now have to wait until September in Nashville before that will happen. :(

For anyone who is interested, Mike Johnson told me on Saturday night that the amp he was using is a Kemper pre-amp into the PA. It is a profiling amp, and he has got the identical tone that his Peavey LTD gives him. Here is a pic of the Kemper. They are around £1500. Possibly another bit of kit to smuggle past she who must be obeyed! 8-)

That's a very cold war, East German looking piece of kit, Ken. You could probably decode the Enigma
It's obviously the dog's :censored: if Mr Johnson's using it. I've come across a similar item, the Fractal AX8, also a tremendous, profiling toy.

Hope MJ was given his rightful place in Reba's show. :guitar:

Well jell, I believe is the appropriate comment

Cor Billy, you are as bad as I am for liking your toys.

I don't know if Mike's profiled tone is available for download, but I suspect that it may well be.

A review of the Kemper from 2012. http://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/kem ... -amplifier

The price of these units has gone up since the review. They are priced around £1500 in the shops give or take £100.
