Fretboard.... ?

Postby David Hartley » Fri Nov 11, 2016 11:17 am

Can a fretboard that has been stuck on an aluminium neck be safely un-glued and stuck on again?

I have a guy with a guitar and the fretboard is 7mm out !!

If it's been fixed using an Evostick type solution, you could try a hot iron? Once heated up, try twisting the fretboard sideways then lift it. Hope this helps.

Yep the usual solution is a hot air gun, with a spatula underneath to gently help it.

A hair dryer and a .012 guitar string underneath can also help, pulled from both sides. A bit of dowelling around each end of the string to stop it cutting into your fingers.
