Happened to me too guys....years ago did an awfull workingmen's club in Bethnall Green East London......on the last number a rowdy bunch came in and used the "F" word to my wife Julie who was fronting the band.....I don't like my wife been sworn at...I was off my steel faster the Usain Bolt and "saw to" Mr mouth...I threw my glasses off and later we had to find one lens Lol. Little did we know they had just come in from a funeral. Needless to say we were banned from the club, which did us a big favour....it was up 4 flights of fire escape stairs and the audience was Naff!!!
Hey Micky, I remember a great photo of Julie fronting the band up on the wall at Red Lodge Cafe, it must have been up there nearly 30 years!! We used to stop there on the way back from Lakenheath gold room with the "Stan Douglas" dance band when I was on Bass back then....., what memorys, I reckon we could have a thread Re.the old Red Lodge most of us old farts spent a lot of time there
Years ago, there was a guy I played guitar with, who, when we went to check on a venue in a pub or club, used to check the chairs, when I asked why, he told me "Some places screwed the chairs to the floor" and if this was one of them he refused to turn up.
Way back in the sixties I was playing at Hadleigh in Suffolk when a fight kicked off. We exited stage left as all sorts of missiles were flying. In between bottles we were running on to stage, picking up a piece of gear and running back. The stage was quite high and the drummer picked up a cymbal stand and planted one of the feet square on to this blokes head. It broke the stand and all this neanderthal did was scratch his head an d looked back at the stage at which point we did a hasty exit.
I remember seeing film of Keith Richards tipping his telecaster and pushing it hard into a mans face who had jumped up on the stage. Kissing a telecaster at 20 mph is not recommended.
