Hi Bob
A simple, science free, answer might be;
Delay gives a repeat of whatever is fed into it, the number of repeats being generally determined by a feedback control.
Reverb, generally, simulates an environment such as, Hall, Room, Ambience, but also electronically created effects such as, plate and spring. The latter is probably the one you have on your amp.
And so, to demonstrate.....
Delay. ......ECHO....echo
Reverb......ECHOOooooooo.
Hope this helps.

Although I've not come across the TC Flashback, I'd vouch for the quality of their products. I've been using their delays for years.

Thanks Danny. Nicely put. On the other hand, surely part of the effect you are trying to achieve with reverb is the "echo" one gets in a large building, a church for example, or that just the "Ooooooo" bit without the "Ech" ?

BTW - I can cope with a bit of science still...........well, some days! ;)

Dave ,I managed to get a dd2 on the internet ,some years ago which is part of my steel mixer set-up.
I also just recently bought a dd20 of a mate of mine in mint condition, its programmable as well .
I think they are one of the best effects going . Regards Derek.

Hi Bob
Ha ha, I'm afraid I couldn't issue a scientific explanation if I tried! I'm more the art school dropout, chancer type, if you will.
But I do know that if you have a digital delay and set the size/amount to between 1 and 3 secs, and further still, if you have a pre delay control set to around 50millsecs, you will achieve that beautiful bloom that you refer to as playing in a church. If it's a slow solo piece you can get away with loads but if it's in a band setting you have to pare back considerably.
I must repeat, this is only a chancer's opinion. ;)

I have a dd6 which i love, but i use lexicon delays and verbs now. If i was going down the stompbox route and had the dosh i would go for Strymon. They are ridonkulously good
