Gigs with just backing tracks

Postby Uncle Roy » Mon Aug 31, 2015 12:53 pm

I deleted my original post as I mislead the readers with what I meant.
So here we go again.
I wondered how many players have or still play gigs just with backing tracks and what sort of venue was it?
Have you also busked and where, I did see a Steelies not long ago in a shopping mall.

I'm lucky to have a pal with a guitar so no backing tracks needed. We still jam at the local pub from time to time (the same place as the NESGF) and, depending on the kind of music wanted, it's either PSG or 8string reso for me. t :D
Fender SM T-8: Shakey 10-plank: Ricky 6: Harmony H7 R Smeck,: plus "home-mades"
Fender D-10: Sierra D-11:
Resos- Goldtone 8 string & Regal 7
FenderTwin: Peavey Delta Blues: Marshall AS50R: DigiTech>GK MB200->Telonics 15"

My daughter and I go out as a duo under the banner of Fates Right Hand but not country music - although I have recently been taking the steel out and trying a few.. I have been using backing tracks for the past 12 years or so both with daughter and solo. These tended to be small venues such as labour clubs etc.

It has paid off but even that is sparse now. I usually do my own tracks using Band in a Box and adding other instruments if required although there are a few midi files.

I have had to do this to survive but my preference is always with a live band. I was out on new years eve with a live band but not country music, and I took the steel and looked through the list to see what I could ad lib on. It worked
ShoBud 6139 - Remington Steelmaster - George Boards 8 String - Gretsch Country Gent - National Twin 8 Console x 2 - National New Yorker and a shed full of guitars.
