I was the bassist on the original recording. The basic tracks were recorded in Air Studio in London. There was no steel on the UK sessions. The steel was overdubbed in New York. The player was Eric Weissberg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Weissberg. I do recall playing the song with John Edmed live and on TOTP .
